A Vintage Little Ivory Table To Adore!

Take a look at our newest, adorable vintage wooden coffee table that we've given a facelift!

Recently, we had our first encounter with furniture stripper (Citristrip), which actually was a bit easier that we expected!  After it was stripped, we took the opportunity to paint the raw wood with original off-white, creamy milk paint, giving it that one of a kind, older, shabby chic chippy paint look!

The two sides of this cocktail table can fold up or down, making a longer "rectangular" top, or making a more round "oval" top, depending on your needs.  We simply ADORE it, and it's so very unique!

This table measures 50" long and 16" tall. With sides down, it is 20.5" wide. With sides up, it is 38.5" wide.  Interested?  View our Craigslist listing or contact us at TeapotsAndWhatNots(at)Yahoo(dot)com today!  :)

This Key is Adorable!

No, this post is not about the "key to BEING adorable"...

It's about an adorable key!  :)

What could make you smile each and every time you walk in and out of your door, you may ask?  How about this adorably cheerful yellow wooden key holder!  Yep, you certainly can bring a smile to your face each and every time you come and go with this adorable light yellow wooden key shaped tray! Perfect for a place to drop your keys (and then always know where to find them!).

We gave this 12" x 4 1/4" x 1 1/4" wooden piece a new life with a coat of buttercream paint and festive yellow, pink, and green floral fabric (cut to size!).   Then, it was lightly hand distressed, and finally sealed with a coat of polycrylic (my all time favorite and MUST have), it's as durable as it is functional!

Use it for your keys, use it as a jewelry holder to stash your small jewelry pieces, or even just use it as a decorative accent piece by itself-- this little "key" has so many uses!  Click on over to our Etsy shop to check it out, or if  you're in the area, give us a shout and we can meet up!

How about showing them with a cute wooden plaque?

I "Mustache" You to "Point" Me in The Right Direction...

Does the title fit this picture??  :)
Okay, so I know our title today, "I "Mustache" You to "Point" Me in The Right Direction..." is a bit corny, but how else would we combine two super trendy styles right now into one heading?!  ;)  It's really more difficult than you'd think!

Anyways, we all know that mustaches have been all the rage lately, adorning everything from clothes, decor, and even baby bedding!  Aaannnddd, we have to admit, we're in love with it, too, just like you!  So, of course, we had to jump on in and create some fun mustache-io pieces:

A fun dark blue shelf with mustache accent.

Distressed blue wooden platter with mustache accent!

Also lately, we've been seeing that arrows are giving mustaches a run for their money...scootching on up to take their top spot!  Home Stories A to Z recently even wrote about it on their blog (read it here)!  Yes, the chevrons seem to start it, but now we're in full blow "arrow" mode...

Adorable blue wooden small rocker with arrows down the back.

Fun desk organzer...distressed blue with arrow design!

So, come see both our mustaches and arrows today at the Mercantile!

Magical Mirrors

Whether they're placed on a wall or sitting on a vanity, mirrors bring a room together.

We have to admit, we totally stole that line from HGTV (check out their posts and great ideas here), however, we totally believe it!  Mirrors can be such a focal point, they can add light to a dark room, and they can add such style to any decor.  I personally have one leaning above my living room mantle, and I always seem to get tons of compliments whenever I have visitors!

Check out a few of our magical mirrors now for sale up in McKinney:

And these fun candlestick holders even have some mirrors behind them, to reflect even more light when candles are lit!

Last, but certainly not least, an adorably shabby chic mirror/shelf combo, with an oh-so-trendy right now owl!

Second 2013 Goal: Getting Back My Office!!! {Phase One}

You know that TV show Hoarders?  Well, I officially feel like I should apply and be filmed, because THIS is what my office/craft room has turned into:

AHHH!!  Makes you want to scream/cringe/pass out all at the same time, right?!

Well, my second goal of this new year has been to take back my office area!  I'm envisioning a beautiful craft room where I can work on both things for Teapots & What-Nots AND for my classroom, too.

So, you can't really fix something like this overnight.  (I mean, I wish I COULD just snap my fingers and *poof*, but, let's be realistic here...)

My first task to tackle was the desk.  Desk, you ask?  What desk?  Yes, I know, you might have missed it.  It was camoflauged in all the junk...

It's way too big for what I imagined and what I need, so it will eventually get a face-lift and a new home.  Instead of simply moving it out to the garage where it would become engulfed into the piles of furniture that need to be refinished, I though why not just refinish it now?  So that's what I did!

Old desk:

New desk:

Please ignore the divots in the vinyl.  We're sitting on carpet here, and Mannon and I are still trying to figure out the whole photography thing.  After all, I'm a teacher, and she was a stay at home mom (neither of which are trainer photographers!)  :)

I'm digging the dark dark "plum" (purple-ish brown-ish black-ish color), because let's face it, when desks get used, they get dirty!  And what better way to hide that than with a dark color?!  :)  I whipped up a batch of my homemade chalk paint (which I'll tell you about tomorrow!), sanded the desk down, and got to painting!  Then, I finished it off with a couple of 3 coats of polycrylic to seal it all.  Viola!  Simply adorable!

I have to admit, once it was done, I was crushing on it so hard that I really debated keeping it in the office...however, even with moving it along a different wall, it's simply not going to fit with our new vinyl backdrop, and the workspace in the middle of the room I need.  So, it's going to a new home!  Listed in on CL here, or if you're intereseted, simply shoot me an email at TeapotsAndWhatNots@yahoo.com

Happy Saturday!  Wish me luck on the rest of the office/craft room.  :)
